Going with the Grain... with Daewoo

John Armitage, Sales Manager at Daewoo Truck North East, congratulates Graham Reed, Transport Manager of Hathaway and Hoyle during the hand over of their first Daewoo D75.

Stockton-on-Tees based timber merchants Hathaway and Hoyle looked far and wide before deciding to change brands when up-dating their fleet.

A demonstration truck from neighbouring Daewoo Truck North-east proved an eye-opener, not least because of its excellent value for money.

Transport Manager Graham Reed takes up the story, ” We have operated a well known brand of Japanese trucks for several years, and would have willingly bought them again.. until that is we tried the Daewoo Avia D75.   After a brief trial our drivers fell in love with the truck. It really offers so much more than our drivers have been used to – the suspended driver seat and spacious cab are really appreciated by them.”

And Graham Reed was adamant that he was not just pandering to his drivers.” Whilst it does keeps my lads happy, it really is a gaffer’s truck at heart. Even during the relatively short demonstration period,  its frugal fuel  consumption became more than apparent. With both low running costs and Daewoo Avia’s great value for money package, we are already saving money on each tonne of timber my lads deliver.”

Hathaway and Hoyle have now ordered two Daewoo Avia D75’s for their fleet – and these are equipped with Aire Truck Body 20 foot aluminium flatbeds for local deliveries of timber products to building sites in the North East.
