The heart of the new Avia D-LINE is the Cummins ISBe Euro 3 engine. This brand-new engine, from the world's largest independent manufacturer, fully meets the requirements of today's truck operator with high performance and low environmental emissions. By combining advanced combustion technology together with high-tech engine control the ISBe leads the way with increased power density, torque and fuel efficiency. The product of 4 years intensive design work, ISBe is one of the finest Euro 3 engines in its class benefiting from leading edge technology, including a common rail fuel system and full authority electronic management system. Designed specially for the light truck market, this new 4-cylinder 3,9 litre engine achieves both Euro 3 emissions and enhanced fuel efficiency. In the Avia D-LINE, the ISBe is available as standard with a power outputs of 150 hp (112 kW) or the new high torque 170 hp option. An impressive flat torque curve delivers constant pulling power from 1200 to 1700 rpm - giving a torque output of 550 Nm on the 150bhp rating and a full 600 Nm on the 170 bhp rating . ISBe achieves Euro 3 certification without the need for vehicle exhaust after-treatment or exhaust gas recirculation. ISBe will provide the base technology platform for future Euro 4 developments in Daewoo Avia trucks. From the first design concept through testing to production, ISBe has been specifically engineered for European vehicle installations, duty cycles and operating conditions. Major engine components are all sourced from within the EU, with final engine manufacturing undertaken at Cummins' main European plant in Darlington, England. These important factors are fully recognised by the "e" designation of the new ISBe engine - a truely European engine. ISBe innovations - benefiting the truck operator This latest generation common rail fuel system ensures low emissions together with exceptional levels of fuel-efficiency. The high precision system, purpose-designed for the engine platform, provides high injection pressure independent of engine speed for superior low speed performance. Low pressure pre-injection in advance of the main fuel charge aids cold starting, reducing smoke and noise. Further noise reduction is achieved by the use of a stabilised block structure, suspended oil pan and distribution gears mounted at the back of the engine. Performance and economy are further enhanced by the adoption of a 16 valve cylinder head for better breathing. Vertically mounted injectors and Ni-resist pistons with symmetrical bowls optimise combustion conditions. A new Holset turbocharger with wastegate ensures optimum charge pressure and quick turbo response. Running costs are reduced by the use of a new rocker system permitting valve adjustment checks at 200.000 km intervals. Rapid maintenance diagnosis interfaces with the built-in Cummins Interact™ electronic management system, allowing installation of the optional Road Relay 4 on-board computer. |
